Hooray! Finally it’s here, it still needs a little work here and there and I also need to translate a lot of old posts, but She Travels is now bilingual. So if you prefer to read in Dutch, you now can. How cool is that?!
Of course there is a reason why I went the bilingual route. I noticed that people close to me found it a bit difficult to read in English but really wanted to know what I was writing about. And because I also have a lot of friends and family abroad, who don’t understand much of my Dutch ramblings and also want to know what I write about, I didn’t have much of a choice.
There even is an option to follow the Dutch site on Bloglovin’ so you get all the new updates in Dutch straight away (English Bloglovin’ also available of course). And in case you end up on the English site again, you can return to the Dutch equivalent with 1 click of your mouse by clicking the Dutch flag.
Unfortunately there are a few things that don’t run smoothly yet. I can’t do much about it either. The related posts that you find under even post link back to the English translation, but the plugin developer is working on making it possible to match related posts in Dutch with Dutch posts.
Then there is something that really bothers me. As you can see there is a header “Recent Comments” on the right, but in Dutch that’s still empty. On every single posts page and the main page in English this works as it should and you see the latest comments, but on the main Dutch page this remains empty. I’m working with the multilingual developers to solve this glitch but everything we tried so far hasn’t worked.
I think it will solve itself once I start getting comments on the Dutch posts, maar for now it’s so bare and that annoys me (I guess that’s the perfectionist in me)
But oh well, if that’s all that’s not the end of the world. What do you prefer to read, English or Dutch?

I never knew you could even make bilingual sites!! Congrats on achieving it! Hopefully I’ll still be able to catch it in english though 😉 Hope you had a very cheery and merry Christmas!
Thank you, I’m really excited about it ;). You’re most definitely going to be able to catch it in English, this site isn’t going anywhere!
I hope your Christmas was wonderful too!
