ThrowBack Thursday; London Zoo

Owl

For this week’s throwback thursday I have a photo of an owl for you. It’s one of my favourite photos that I took at the London Zoo. I surely didn’t expect that a big city like London would have a big zoo in the heart of the city.

It’s not only big (and pretty) but it’s also part of ZSL (Zoological Society of London), an charity dedicated to worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats, not only through the London Zoo but also through their projects in more than 50 countries worldwide. A good cause, because unfortunately many species are on the list to be extinct or lose their habitat.

But back to the owl. As you can see I get sidetracked just looking at this photo, which means it’s a good addition for the throwback thursday series, it has a story to tell. If you’re ever in London, visit the zoo. You not only find this handsome owl there but also many ways to contribute to ZSL. Including adopting an animal, or how about being a keeper for a day?!

Great photo! I’m partial to owls, I had to do a bit of research into spirit animals for my book and one of the characters has an owl as a spirit animal. I never knew there were so many different types! Love the B&W.

They are amazing and if you look at them one can understand that saying “as wise as an owl” is true. They seem to have so much knowledge hidden in their eyes.
