You can travel in many ways, in luxury or on budget and everything inbetween. And if travelling is one of your hobbies you try to get away as much as you can. Unfortunately my budget doesn’t allow me to travel 100 times a year, which is probably the truth for most people. But luckily for me there is another way to get away for a bit. By travelling in my head!
No, I didn’t go crazy and I’m also not sitting at home in my bikini with the heat turned up high pretending I’m on a tropical island somewhere. But I still travel to far country and strange surroundings regularly in my head; with books!
It’s march already and we haven’t had a proper winter here in The Netherlands. Temperatures have been well above the average for this time of year and it’s about to warm up a little more.
Most of all the outrages temperatures all across the planet probably have to do with climate change, which, despite popular believe, seems very real to me. You can’t deny the weird weather across the globe like crazy snow storms in places usually deprived of snow, droughts and warm spells where snow should be falling.
Usually I’d rather be behind the camera (as a hobby) than in front of it. And portraits are also generally not the things I photograph. I’m more into macro and nature photography (and of course capturing my travels as best as possible). But Bonnie from A Compass Rose has “self portrait saturday” every week and it’s amazing to see her fantastic self portraits weekly. Along with it she makes it a link up to meet other bloggers.
Because I could finally wear my new vintage dress (I saved it for my birthday) and the weather wasn’t too bad either I decided to step in front of the camera for a change. You’ll find the result below. The wind sort of messed up my hair but oh well, you can’t have everything.
And it’s Thursday again which means time for another throwback Thursday! This time it’s me “rocking out” near Balmoral Castle in Ballater, Scotland. I’m enjoying the view of River Dee from a big rock on the river side. Such a beautiful place to be, sit and contemplate life.
It’s throwback thursday time again, and this time it’s a photo from New York City in 2010. I’m sitting at the fountain across from Radio City Music Hall (staring at all the pretty lights I think). Oh I’d love to go back!
